Cierra Johnson joined NBC Bay Area in June 2020 as a reporter and a fill in anchor. Cierra mainly covers San Francisco and the North Bay for the station’s morning newscast Today in the Bay.

Cierra comes to NBC Bay Area after having worked in her hometown of Columbus Ohio for the past three years. She worked as the very first multimedia journalist CBS affiliate WBNS 10TV news.

Prior to working at WBNS, Cierra spent nearly three years working as a news reporter/anchor at WKBW, ABC in Buffalo, NY.

Cierra began her career in broadcast journalism as a E.W. Scripps news apprentice. She worked two years at Scripps owned WCPO ABC in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Cierra attended Ohio University and studied broadcast journalism in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.

When she isn’t working, you can find Cierra checking out restaurants, wineries or boutiques. She is also an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Junior League and Dress for Success.
