The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden was named America’s Best Rose Garden by a group of rose growers known as the All America Rose Selections (AARS).
Not too long ago, San Jose's Municipal Garden was in a thorny predicament. It was considered an embarrassment, known more for its weeds than beautiful blossoms. That’s what makes today’s announcement even more remarkable.
It has just been named America’s Best Rose Garden by a group of rose growers known as the All America Rose Selections (AARS). Thousands of people nationwide voted on a list of more than 130 gardens. The AARS then visited the top 10 sites to decide on the final rankings. What greeted them was 4000 bushes of more than 300 varieties of roses bursting in reds, yellows, whites and purples.
The Friends of San Jose’s Rose Garden believe it’s their volunteers who pushed the Garden to the top. Hundreds of people donate their time each week to keep the bushes pruned, trimmed and looking nice. You can see what we’re talking about here on their website.
