Fame Comes at a Cost for East Bay Rocker

What does earning a Grammy nomination get you? A gigantic bulls eye on your back.

Robb Flynn, the frontman of East Bay metal rockers Machine Head, was the apparent victim of his own fame earlier this week.

While the Grammy-nominated rocker left his Martinez home to pick up his son from school Tuesday, someone or someones, who "knew" Flynn was going to be out of the house, broke in and stole cash, computers, jewelry and more.

But most importantly -- not suprisingly for a musician -- the culprits stole four fancy guitars, and one with serious sentimental value.

"That is priceless to me," Flynn told the San Jose Mercury News about a guitar given to him by the late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera.

Flynn is convinced the act was not random. He tells the paper the thieves had some familiarity with his house and what was there. That is why he is offering four-figure rewards for the return of his guitars.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Martinez Police Department at 925-372-3400 or Machine Head at mike@machinehead1.com.
