From food critic Michael Bauer's love for fried chicken to Top Chef Jamie Lauren's obsession with Nacho Cheese Pretzel Combos, the country's top foodies talk about their junk food. SFist interviewed top foodies to find out what guilty pleasures bring them to their knees. Top Chef and San Francisco local Jamie Lauren has a soft spot for Nacho Cheese Pretzel Combos. "I'm obsessed. They're delicious," she admits. Chef Gary Danko, who runs a restaurant with his namesake in San Francisco, has a sore spot for gummy worms. Elizabeth Faulker, the executive chef at Orson and a frequent guest on Top Chef loves chocolate. But Peanut M&Ms are her junk food of choice. Marcia Gagliardi of Tablehopper has a lot of guilt pleasures but one thing she doesn't feel bad about is McDonald's Egg McMuffin. She admits to hitting McDonalds drive-thru once a year for an Egg McMuffin and hash browns. "I feel terrible about it before and after, but while I’m snarfing it? Uh, no guilt at all." Joanne Weir, a chef and author, is "crazy" about potato chips. "I can't have them in my house because they'd be calling my name to eat them," she says. The elusive San Francisco Chronicle food critic Michael Bauer loves In-N-Out burgers, movie popcorn and he says his "guilty pleasure is fried chicken." Slow food don Alice Waters wouldn't admit to eating any junk food. She sent her people to say she was traveling "so she will have to pass" on the survey. Boo.
